Safayi Karamchari panel member orders equal pay for equal work

Ongole: The Safayi Karamcharis should be provided with all benefits from the State and Central governments, said Jagadish Hiremani, member of the National Commission for Safayi Karamchari,  here on Thursday.

After reviewing the salaries, their working conditions and other benefits to the sanitation workers in the district, Jagadish Hiremani ordered the officials to see that the sanitation workers in the municipalities and hospitals get equal salaries and benefits as they are doing the same work. Jagadish Hiremani said that the Central government is giving priority to four issues concerned with the sanitation workers.

Among them, all sanitation workers should be provided housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme, conducting health checkups every month, providing reservation to the children of sanitation workers in all schools, including the private,  and provide tools and machinery to the workers to use while dischargign their duty.

He appreciated the sanitation conditions in Ongole town. Joint Collector S Nagalakshmi, DRO N Prabhakara Reddy, municipal commissioner  S Venkatakrishna and other officials participated in the meeting.
