Hyderabad: YSR Congress has said that the tall claims of Chandrababu Naidu giving inflated growth rate has been hampering the Central aid, including Special Category Status (SCS) and his knee jerk reaction of moving court is ridiculous as TDP being a coalition partner of NDA need to have responsibility as well along with enjoying the rights.

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu said, ‘ Niti Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar’s remark that Andhra Pradesh state neither requires handholding nor special category status (SCS), given its economic growth story only shows how Chandrababu Naidu with his inflated growth rate figures and put spokes into the development wheel of the state.

The chief minister now in a knee-jerk reaction stating that he would explore the option of moving court on the issue only exposes his ill-formed policies and getting his priorities wrong. He is part of the NDA coalition and should ascertain himself in getting the SCS.

The Chief Minister even in his representation to the Prime Minister mentioned of the high growth rate and contradicted his own statement by contending that Andhra Pradesh is the poorest among the southern states.

‘It is time that Chandrababu Naidu realizes his folly and jugglery of figures as the Niti Aayog has made it clear that Andhra Pradesh with an average per capita income higher than that of the national average need not require spoon feeding.

Whether the issue of SCS was taken up with the Niti Aayog or not should be categorically stated by Chandrababu Naidu and his theatrics that he is pained about the remarks of Rajiv Kumar does not work anymore as the Chief Minister himself had created the situation by painting a rosy picture of the state economy to acquire loans, he said.

‘People of the state are looking forward to the fulfillment of all the assurances given in the State Reorganisation Act and it is the bounden duty of the State and Central governments to fulfill them. The remarks of Niti Aayog Vice-Chairman indicate that there have been no efforts on part of the State Government,’ he said.

‘When the cat has come out of the bag, the Chief Minster has been telling that he would move the court which is ridiculous as he shares the power with BJP at the Centre and State as well,’ he said.
