Farmer’s selfie threat jolts officials into action

Gurazala (Guntur dist): On the heels of suicide of a farmer KondaveetiBrahmaiah at the Guntur collectorate two days ago, another farmer Chintakayala Raju of Lakshmipuram village in Karampudimandal has sent a selfie video to GurazalaRevenue Divisional Officer E Murali on Friday night in which he has threatened that he will commit suicide at the collectorate in Guntur on January 22, if justice is not done to him immediately. 

In the selfie video, he made a complaint that loan waiver was not implemented to him.He was debtridden and unable to withstand financial problems. So, he has decided to commit suicide. Afterwatching the video clippings, the RDO rushed to Laksmipuramon Saturday and conducted a meeting and assured the farmer that he would speak to higher officials and solve his problem.

According to sources,ChintakayalaRaju, a farmer residing in Lakshmipuram, cultivated one- acre of land and incurred heavy losses. 

He has clear to Rs. 9 lakh debts and is unable to repay the debts. Whenthe money lenders forced him to clear their
dues, he decided to sell his land. He applied for the Pattadar Pass Book and tried his best for the last nine months to get Pattadar Pass Book. The Surveyor is not visiting the villageto measure the land. So,  he could not get Pattardar Pass Book. As an additional burden, Crop loan was not waived to his family under Crop loan waiver scheme. 

Unable to bear financial problems and vexed with the attitude of revenue officials, he sent a selfie video to Gurazala RDO EMurali. Revenue officials went to his village. The RDO and other officials   contacted Raju’s mother and inquired about their 
problem.

The surveyor declared that the farmer’s family is having 93 cents of land andremaining seven cents of land went to road.  The RDO assured that he would discuss about crop loan waiver scheme with the higher officials and  try to do justice.
