Steep hike in fuel price flayed

Vijayawada: After BJP formed the government in 2013, the price of fuel was enhanced by Rs 12 per litre till now, said CPM state secretary Donepudi Kasinath. In this regard, the CPM leaders staged a protest at NTR Circle here on Saturday.

Addressing the media persons, Kasinath said that before 2013 general elections, BJP had promised good governance and would bring down the prices of fuel and essential commodities unlike the Congress government. After Modi took charge as Prime Minister  there was no regulation on the prices of essential things and fuel, he lamented.

He wondered as to why there was need to increase the fuel price when the international crude oil price was decreasing. He further said that fuel price in the state is more when compared to neighboring states like Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and others.

He said when international crude price was going up those countries were giving subsidy to regulate the price but in India the prices were continuously on the rise, he added.

Instead of trying to regulate the prices, the ruling government was attacking the opposition parties, the CPM leader said and appealed the people to protest and demand the government cut fuel price as per international crude oil price and regulate the price.
