Businessman, kin robbed on National Highway

Eluru: A three-member gang looted a businessman and his relatives at the Y-junction on the National Highway near Kalaparru Tollgate in Pedapadu mandal on the wee hours of Sunday. 

According to police, M Prem Kumar, a businessman, who was making plastic material at Appanaveedu village in Pedapadu mandal, along with his relatives Thotaiah and Manikantha boarded TATA Ace Truck at Appanaveedu with plastic material. 

When the truck reached Y-Junction near Kalaparru toll-gate on Saturday midnight, they stopped the vehicle and slept in it. After midnight, three unknown miscreants came and threatened them with sticks and knives.  The three-member gang looted the businessman who was having Rs 2 lakh cash and two mobile phones.   

The miscreants after looting the businessman and other two, tried to attack them again. However, the trio escaped from the place and lodged a complaint with Pedpadu police. Eluru DSP K Eshwara Rao reached the spot and enquired the victims about the incident. A case has been registered in Pedapadu police station.
