‘Govt should build houses for Vamsadhara displaced’
Srikakulam: The government should construct new houses for Vamsadhara project displaced families on a brisk pace, demanded CPM district secretary B Krishnamurthy. CPM launched a relay hunger strike in front of the Collectorate here on Saturday. On the occasion, they said that the government demolished about 8,000 houses in 25 villages under purview of Vamsadhara project but neglected construction of new houses at all identified places.
They questioned why the officials neglected their responsibilities in construction of new houses and providing basic amenities at displaced colonies. CPM leaders G Simhachalam and G Dharma Rao said displaced are not getting assured 0.05 cents of land for the construction of houses and they were allotted 0.03 cents and for remaining 0.02 cents, they demanded compensation as per open market price. The CPM leaders asked officials to solve payment of compensation to family members of the deceased and requested to clear dues under youth package.
