Hill resorts proposed at Jagathpalli in agency

Srikakulam: As part of tourism development,  hill resorts project was proposed at Jagathpalli hill top in Sitampeta mandal. As per detailed project report (DPR), the total estimated cost is Rs 27 crore and it would spent in two phases. The resorts were proposed during the visit of secretary to tourism department Mukesh Kumar Meena on in October 2017. 

Later, a report was prepared on it at the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) meeting on December 19 last year. Immediately, on December 20, 2017 Sitampeta Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) project officer Lotheti Siva Sankar forwarded the report to the government by explaining need of hill resort tourism project. The project officer urged the government to release Rs 12 crore funds in first phase.

But the government released Rs 7 crore funds under current financial year and assured to release remaining Rs 20 crore next financial year. During the first phase, basic facilities like road, cottages, food courts and parking area would be provided. In second phase, other requirements like swimming pool, conference hall and amphitheatre would be constructed. 

“With the hill resort project at Jagathpalli, entire area would be improved gradually,” ITDA project officer L Siva Sankar  said. Immediately after execution of the project about 20 tribals would get employment at their native place, the project officer added.
