ITDA wants water amenities in Chenchu hamlets by summer

Srisailam Project: Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Project Officer (PO) Ramaseshu has directed Village Tribal Development Agencies (VTDA) presidents of Kurnool, Prakasam and Guntur districts, engineering officials to provide drinking water in hamlets inhabited by the Chenchus and implement other development schemes sanctioned by the state government for them.  He wanted them to provide drinking water before the onset of summer to tide over drinking water crisis.

He was reviewing implementation of welfare programmes meant for the Chenchus in a meeting held at PMRC Bhavan here on Saturday. Executive Engineer Jagat Jyoti wanted the officials to complete the delayed works in a fortnight and submit their bills by March. The meeting discussed construction of drinking water tanks, laying of roads and undertaking repairs to them, undertaking repairs to various buildings and provision of taps to each and every household. 

VTDA presidents confronted with the officials over the delay in getting their bills sanctioned for the works executed. Their contention was that they borrowed money at Rs 5 interest and executed the works. 

The officials assured the VTDA presidents to submit a report to the state government and ensure that the bills are cleared. Guntur district State-level Bankers’ Committee member Mallu Swamy, Anjaiah of Prakasam district, Mukanna of Kurnool district, assistant engineers Jayaraj and Rajasekhara Reddy, assistant project officer of the ITDA Muralidhar and divisional engineer Lata took part in the meeting.
