Not against Centre: Naidu

Sure of winning all 175 Assembly seats

Amaravati: AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has once again made it clear that his government was not against the Centre.

Speaking at a one-day TDP workshop at his residence in Undavalli here on Sunday, the Chief Minister clarified that his assertion about the state moving the Supreme Court for bifurcation funds doesn’t mean that he was preparing for a showdown with the Central government.

"When it came to the distribution of assets of the state higher education, the Telangana government did abide by the court orders. Only in such cases, I said the state may seek legal remedy for justice," Naidu pointed out.

“When I met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I have made it amply clear to him that the state wanted the Centre to do justice on all counts,” Naidu said, hinting that he was not in a mood for confrontation with the Centre, as yet.

The Chief Minister waxed eloquent over the prospects of the TDP in the next elections.

He said no party can vanquish the Telugu Desam and this time, unlike in the past, there would be no anti-incumbency factor since the people have seen the kind of effort that is going into the reconstruction of the state.

As the situation is very favourable, the TDP should win all the 175 Assembly seats. He advised the party leaders not to oppose if anyone from other parties showed interest in joining the TDP.

Naidu said that decrease in the number of complaints during recent Janmabhoomi programme and positive response to ‘Intintiki Telugu Desam’ programme indicated public pulse in the state. “We can see a transformation among the public. They have reached a satisfaction level and want to support the TDP. Our experience in delivering good administration and ensuring penetration of technology has helped us to increase satisfaction levels among the people,” he said. The Chief Minister asked the party leaders why party was weak in some Assembly constituencies even as the welfare schemes were being implemented equally in all the constituencies. Listing the welfare schemes, Naidu said the state government would start Anna Canteens and Unemployment Allowance schemes soon. “If we start these two schemes, that traction with people would be much more,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the government would divide grievances received in Janmabhoomi programme into financial and non-financial. “There will be service standards for resolving non-financial issues. We will also resolve financial issues by extending welfare schemes to all eligible people,” he said.
