Sell fresh meat to consumers: APSMDC chief directs traders
Kurnool: Andhra Pradesh State, Meat Development Corporation (APSMDC) Chairman, P Chandra Dandu Prakash Naidu conducted surprise inspection at mutton and chicken centres in Kurnool on Sunday.
He checked the chicken and mutton centres at Maddur Nagar, C Camp, Kallur and Nandyal Check post and noticed several irregularities besides untidy surroundings. He directed the organisers to keep the surroundings clean or action would be taken against them.
He also checked the quality of meat and said to dispose the meat within eight hours after cutting or else the meat would get decomposed. He also warned not to store in deep fridges and not to sellthe same next day. If the stored meat was consumed, then the people will fall ill as the meat will attract several germs and virus. He suggested the meat sellers to sell fresh meat toconsumers.
While on his way to Kallur from C Camp centre, he stopped a vehicle that was transporting chickens and inspected them. He found some of the chickens were dead and some virus affected. The Chairman immediately imposed a fine of Rs10,000 to the transporter.
He also imposed fines on the chicken and meat centres at C camp, Maddur Nagar and Nandyal check post. The Chairman has also seized one Prudvi chicken centre at Maddur Nagar as the organiser was selling stored meat.
Veterinary department Dr Hari Babu, Health Officer, Usman Ali Khan, Sanitary Inspectors, Ramana, Srinivasa Rao, Parasuram, Raju and others accompaniedthe Chairman during inspections.
Before the inspections, the Commissioner of Municipal Corporation, CB HarinathReddy had a formal meeting with P Chandra Dandu Prakash Naidu at the State Guest House.
