Sudheer Babu new president of State Teachers Union

Tirupati: State Teachers Union (STU) members elected their new office-bearers in Tirupati on Sunday. Ch Joseph Sudheer Babu was elected as its new State president and Gajula Nageswara Rao as general secretary. P Subba Raju was elected as finance secretary along with other office-bearers.

Speaking to the media after their election, the STU State president and general secretary said that the government should realise the truth that education sector was under threat due to its commercialisation.

The resolutions adopted on the third and final day of the STU meeting include: Abolition of contributory pension scheme (CPS), notional increments for special teachers, implementation of common service rules, filling up of junior lecturer posts with school assistants, resolving the problems of municipal and aided teachers among others.

Speaking on the occasion, MLC Kathi Narasimha Reddy said that they will exert pressure on the government through Legislative Council to resolve the issues in education sector. 

Former president of STU E Shanmurthi, MV Ramanappa, Sanyasi Rao, Ganta Mohan, Dhananjayulu Naidu, Jagannatham, Munikrishnama Naidu, Ramesh and others participated.
