Respecting mother is our culture

Tirupati: ‘Ammaku Vandanam’ programme was held in Chittoor on Monday on the occasion of Vasantha Panchami. District Collector PS Pradyumna inaugurated the programme at BS Kannan government school by lighting the lamp.

Speaking on the occasion he said, “Respecting mother is in our culture. To make young children aware of this culture, ‘Ammaku Vandanam’ programme was initiated by the government in every school”, he said. 

The boys who respect their mother will never behave with disrespect towards any woman. Mother is the root cause of birth and she should always be respected, he underlined. Going to mythology, he said, Saraswathi was the head of Education, Lakshmi for Finance and Durga for law and order. Every student should be taught the tradition of respecting mother. 

Students were made to pay obeisance to their mothers by touching their feet and seek blessings in the programme. DEO Dr K Panduranga Swamy also participated in the programme.
