Kakinada: District Collector Karthikeya Mishra on Tuesday launched the video conferencing facility for the tribals living in Chaparai Agency of Boddagandi village in Y Ramavaram mandal in East Godavari district.

It may be recalled that this Agency hit the headlines in June 2017 when it was reported that some people died due to lack proper communication facilities for extending medical care.  After this incident, the district administration immediately responded and took remedial measures.

At the instance of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the District Collector took this issue as a challenge and provided communication facilities to the remote Agency habitations in the district. This dream of the people has come true on Tuesday  by providing video conferencing facility to Chaparai village through AP Fibre Net.

Collector Kartikeya Mishra interacted with local people, schoolchildren and other officials through video conference. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that earlier, many of these tribal habitations were not having a road or communication connectivity. But now, with the effort of the state government, communication facilities were provided as the AP Fibre Grid has established its hub at Maredumilli, he added.

Furthermore, the Collector said that from Maredumilli, this facility was extended to Chaparai, Banda and Jajivalasa habitations. He also said that with the usage of advanced Google X, they made it possible for better signal connectivity in these remote areas. Mishra informed that because of this revolutionary leap, it would help the tribals to communicate in case of emergency and it is also possible to monitor staff duties and to conduct digital classrooms.

Mishra said that all the households in the village were provided with water taps, a local ration depot and an Anganwadi centre. He said that this facility would be extended to other 50 to 60 villages in a phased  manner in the coming days.

He said that Chief Minister Chandrababu who was on the Davos tour is likely to interact with Chaparai people on Wednesday through a video conference.
