Nellore: YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy assured that he would formulate a policy for supporting aqua farmers in the state considering their plight when he came to power. A team of aqua farmers under leadership of K Satyanarayana Reddy met the Opposition leader who was on Praja Sankalapa Yatra at K Ballavolu village in the district on Thursday and handed over a representation detailing their demands.

They explained that they were being burdened with Additional Caution Deposit of Rs. 3-4 lakh by power utilities,  which would be a huge financial burden for the small farmers who cannot pay the amount in advance.

Even though agriculture and allied activities were fetching huge revenue to the governments there was no practical support to the farmers, they alleged. They urged the opposition leader to raise the issue in Assembly.

Jagan, who interacted with aqua farmers, assured that he would talk to the officials and collect information on the problems before formulating a policy.

Further, Venati Sumanth Reddy, a councillor of Sullurpet municipality and son of popular leader Venati Munireddy, resigned from the ruling TDP and announced that he would be joining The YSRCP. Interacting with the media persons, Sumanth Reddy said had been in the TDP for the last two decades but could not provide water to the residents of the town due to internal politics.

So, he said, they had decided to shift their loyalties to YSR Congress. The Opposition leader will hoist national flag on the occasion of Republic Day at Saguturu in Ozili mandal on Friday during his yatra.
