Update: 2018-01-27 04:59 IST

Tirupati: CPM State secretary P Madhu alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is planning to hike the power charges in the State soon on the pretext of Rs 13,000 crore funds deficit in power sector. He alleged that the government is planning to hike power tariff abnormally.

Addressing the mediapersons here on Friday, he criticised the ‘Dalita Tejam Tejam’, an SC welfare schemes campaign programme, launched by the ruling party with much fanfare on Friday.

Madhu opposed the Centre’s policy of encouraging FDI. ““By allowing foreign direct investments in retail sector more than 7 crore people have lost livelihood, it will pose a threat to country’s financial self-reliance,” the CPM leader said.

He found fault with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his comments that the State government also has an option to approach court for fulfilment of the promises made under AP Reorganisation Act-2014. CPM leaders Kandharapu Murali, Kumar Reddy, A Pullaiah and Yadgiri were present.
