Crop loans worth 3,859 cr extended

Kadapa: District Collector T Baburao Naidu said on Friday that the state government has introduced several welfare schemes to make farming more profitable.

Addressing the gathering after hoisting the national flag on the occasion of 69th Republic Day here, the Collector said that loans worth Rs 3,859 crore were extended to the farmers in the current financial year.

The government has sanctioned Rs 10 crore as against the allocation of Rs 25 crore in the current financial year for the horticulture crops, Naidu said, adding the government want to develop Kadapa district as horticulture hub.

The Collector mentioned about 45 tmcft water will be made available for agriculture operations and drinking needs in the ensuing summer as the government wants to supply water from Srisailam reservoir.

On the occasion, the Collector has distributed Rs 59.49 crore worth assets to 52,410 beneficiaries. District SP Attada Babujee, Joint Collector-2 Siva Reddy and other officials and people were present.
