Legal camp to create awareness on human trafficking
Chirala: The children and women from disturbed families are vulnerable to the human trafficking, said senior judges of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Dr Bulusu Siva Sankar and T Sunil Chowdary. Participating in the first ever State Wide Legal Services Camp at Chirala in Prakasam district on Saturday, they suggested to strengthen the family system and advised the parents to share love and affection to their children to address the trafficking issues.
As per the directive of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), DLSA and HELP NGO joined hands to bring all theh government departments concerned at one place to create awareness in the victims and common people about trafficking, help available at distress, rescue procedures and rehabilitation programmes.
PV Sunil Kumar, IG of CID, said that on average about 15,000 crimes against women are being registered in the state and trafficking cases are occupying the major part. He said that 95 per cent of the offenders are new and unable to track them.
Sunil Chowdary advised the parents to stop watching TV in the evenings and observe the call lists of their children mobile numbers regularly and know with whom they are speaking to a lot.
He also asked the teachers to inform the parents if there is a behaviour shift observed in the students. He said that strengthening the family system and parents treating the children as friends reduces the chances of the children falling prey to the criminals.
Dr B Siva Sankar said that good families make good villages and towns and they make good district, good state and finally a good society. He said that the NALSA, SLSA and DLSA are trying to bridge the gap between the victims and the government departments. He said that the Legal Services Camps will bring the justice to the door step of the common people.
Member secretary of SLSA PV Rambabu, DLSA Chairperson and District Judge MG Priyadarsini, secretary of DLSA and senior judge T Raja Venkatadri, HELP NGO president NVS Ram Mohan, district joint collector S Nagalakshmi, SP Bhusarapu Satya Yesubabu, district officials from various departments participated in the programme and directed the victims and common people to apply for various schemes available for them.
