Lawyer caught with counterfeit currency

Tirupati: The cops raided a house at Chenna Reddy Colony here on Saturday and arrested a lawyer, N Ramachandra Rao, while he was exchanging counterfeit currency with another person and recovered Rs 4.97 lakh currency in Rs 500 denomination from him. Tirupati East DSP N Sudhakar Reddy said that cops raided the house of lawyer on a tip off and caught him while he was about to exchange Rs 17,500 worth fake currency. 

The lawyer confessed to crime, the DSP stated. Based on the information provided by the accused, the cops have arrested N Hari Prasad, a native of Nunevaripalle in Rajampeta mandal of Kadapa district, who was supplying the counterfeit currency to Ramachandra Rao and seized Rs 3.18 lakh original notes from him. Later, the case was transferred to Tirupati Central police station for further investigation.
