‘Energy from sun essential for life’
District Collector, MLC, MLAs, SP and other officials participate in the Surya Aaradhana programme
Kurnool: Surya Namaskarams were performed on a grand note as part of “Surya Aaradhana” at Outdoor Stadium here on Sunday. District Collector, S Sathyanarayana, MLC K E Prabhakar, Superintendent of Police Gopinath Jetty, MLAs Mani Gandhi and SV Mohan Reddy, Municipal Commissioner CB Harinath Reddy, District Revenue Officer (DRO) Sasi Devi and others participated in the programme.
The district officials along with the political leaders offered prayers to Sun God. Later, the Collector, addressing the participants on the occasion, has said that Sun God gives us light with which we gain energy. ``With the rays of the Sun we can generate solar power. Earlier, our ancestors used to offer prayers to sun, air and water. But with the passage of time, we all forget the rituals. Life is impossible without these three. We all should respect the nature and it is a gift to us,’’ he said.
The Collector further said that the government has launched novel programmes. Very recently, we have offered prayers to water god in the form of “Jala Siri Ki Harathi” and now “Surya Aaradhana”. If we are bestowed with the blessings of Air, Water and Sun gods then no evil would come near us.
On this occasion, Surya Namaskarams were performed. Yoga and cultural programmes were also organised and the performances of the participants enthralled the onlookers.
The Surya Aaradhana was also observed at Srisailam on the directions of Andhra Pradesh States Endowments department. Special prayers like Ganapathi Puja, Suraya Aaradhana were performed by the Arahckas and Veda Pandits at Mada Veedhi near Harahara Gopuram. The Veda Pandits later distributed sweets (prasadams) to the participants.
