Past rulers neglected Anantapur dist: Pawan
Kadiri (Anantapur): Jana Sena president and film actor Pawan Kalyan as part of his mass contact programme, interacted with people and farmers at the Indira Circle in the town on Sunday morning.
Addressing a gathering of people and his fans, Pawan Kalyan said that the district was long neglected by rulers of the past. No permanent measures had been taken by successive governments of the past for tackling poverty and drought conditions.
He said that interactions with farmers revealed that while drought ruled the roost for several years in the district even when the farmers reaped a good harvest, remunerative prices for their produce were not paid due to the dubious role of middlemen.
He stated that he was trying to meet local leaders of the ruling party and eliciting their views on development of the district and on completion of irrigation projects. The farmers of the district were echoing only one demand that is drinking water to villages and irrigation to their crops.
He also reiterated his plan to take train load of people including experts who can speak on the district to Delhi for meeting the Prime Minister and apprising him of the precarious conditions in the district.
He said that everywhere people were asking him as to which political party he would support. He replied that he would support those who stand by the people. Also he would contest from a constituency in the district suggested by the people.
