Pawan urges Centre to sanction Special Category Status
Hindupur (Anantapur): Jana Sena chief and film actor Pawan Kalyan winding up his 3-day 'Karuvu Yatra' in the district on Monday revealed that at this stage he is not sure which party he would support, TDP, BJP or the YSRCP in the 2019 elections.
It would depend on his study as to which party is closer to the people's aspirations. Addressing Jana Sena party workers meeting here on Monday, Pawan Kalyan said that his party would by all means contest in the 2019 elections but it is too early to reveal which party he would align with among the three parties TDP, BJP and YSRCP.
Referring to the Special Category Status (SCS) demand, he said that different political parties have different viewpoints. The Telugu Desam Party has different thinking on the issue while other parties have divergent views.
It would be nice if all parties have unanimity on the issue but there seemed to be no scope for this. Even taking up agitation for the demand will not make much difference as there is no point in staging dharnas here as Delhi is far off to attract the attention of the Centre.
Since the Centre promised Special Category Status for AP, it should fulfill its promise, he opined. The Jana Sena, Pawan said is yet to be fully established organisationally and therefore is not in a stage to take part in a full-scale electoral battle. The Jana Sena is only a three-and-half year old baby but it is prepared to fight for problems accumulated for over seven decades in the State.
He stated that the party is facing hostile conditions and he is jumping into electoral politics with faith in the people. He appealed to the party workers to fight for the party courageously as soldiers.
He revealed that several advocates shared their displeasure over Amaravati ignoring Rayalaseema interests. They are demanding the setting up of AP High Court in Rayalaseema. The Jana Sena will take a view on this and lend its support for the cause.
Earlier, responding to the demand of the people of Puttaparthi for creation of a separate district with Puttaparthi as its headquarters, he said that Telangana too created several districts and when such an occasion arises, he would see that the first district that will be created wouid be Puttaparthi. His party Jana Sena will look into this aspect, he assured.
Referring to the demand of the people especially the youth who were sloganeering that he should become the Chief Minister, Pawan said that one need not have a position to serve the people. Pawan Kalyan later left for Bengaluru to catch a flight to Hyderabad.
