Raids on Govt official reveal assets worth Rs 60 crore

A government official has been arrested by the Andhra Pradesh Police after raids conducted revealed he owned land, cash and valuables disproportionate to his known source of income.

The accused, Pasuparthi Pradeep Kumar works as a senior official of Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) with a salary of Rs 1 lakh per month. However, his owned assets amount to Rs 60 crore.

In connection with the investigation into a case against Kumar, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) raided 12 places in AP and Telangana

The ACB found agricultural land measuring 9.20 acre at different places in Krishna, Anantapur and Kadapa districts apart from five residential plots and four flats during the raids.

All of these were registered under the names of his family.

2.7 kg of gold, 12.5 kg of silver, two platinum rings, a car, a two-wheeler and cash, fixed deposits worth Rs 35 lakh and household articles worth Rs 21 lakh was also seized.
