Dist-level sports selections on Feb 2-3

Visakhapatnam:  The District Sports Authority, Visakhapatnam, is conducting the district-level selections for sports persons to impart training in various sports and games at the exclusive sports academies.

The systematic sports training with a scientific approach to the upcoming talented players of the state for enabling  them to perform well at the higher-level competitions, the government has permitted SAAP to establish the State Sports Academies in the state during 2017-18.  Accordingly, three centres for boys and three for girls were established.

For archery, rifle shooting, cycling and boxing (for boys), the selections will be conducted on February 2. For badminton, judo, taekwondo, weight lifting and table tennis (boys and girls), gymnastics, fencing and athletics for girls will be conducted on February 2.

Selections for the team games, including basketball, football, handball, hockey, volleyball, kho-kho and kabaddi for both boys and girls, will be conducted on February 3, said District Sports Development Officer June Gallyot.

All the selections will be at Indira Priyadarshini Stadium at One Town starting from 8 am on the both days, he added. Those desirous of participating in the events may contact on the number 0891-2705392 for further details.
