Inter practical exams under CC surveillance from Feb 1

Tirupati: Stage set for the Intermediate practical examinations, which begins on February 1 and will be held for the first time under CC camera surveillance in all the centres across the state. One more feature in this year’s examinations will be that there will be jumbling system for examiners also along with students. 

The practical examinations will be held in two sessions daily with the first session from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and the second session from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will continue till February 21.

About 3.25 lakh science students are expected to take practical examinations in 928 centres in 13 districts. Unlike last year, this year everyday a new examiner will be posted to conduct the examinations and the departmental officers drawn from arts faculty will be changed for every five days.

``To equip government junior college with CC cameras, Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) Secretary B Udaya Lakshmi sanctioned Rs.25,000 to every college and instructions were given to all private junior colleges to install CC cameras,” said RIO (Regional Intermediate Officer) M Krishnaiah. Hitherto, students were having jumbling system which will be extended to the invigilators as well. 

There will be 93 centres in the district for practical examinations of which 47 are junior colleges, 39 private colleges 2 APSWRJ colleges and 5 aided colleges and all the material was sent to the centres. In total, 27,323 science students have to attend the practical examinations in the district. 

A coordination meeting was held with DM&HO, RTC, Police department officials and arrangements were made to conduct practical examinations successfully, said Krishnaiah.Apart from District Education Committee members, High Power Committee members and subject experts will undertake inspections during examinations.

District Vocational officer will act as observer and go-round all the centres, elaborated the RIO. As a prelude to the main theory examinations, which will begin on February 28, ‘Ethics and Human values’ examination was held on January 27 which was attended by 46,640 candidates out of 47,110. The ‘Environmental Education’ examination was held on Monday. 

It was attended by 46,411 students. ``Qualifying in both these examinations for Junior Intermediate students was made mandatory and these papers will be evaluated through jumbling system only”, RIO averred.  

He said, for theory examinations 1,06,440 students have been enrolled their names out of which 56,431 belong to senior intermediate and the remaining are of junior intermediate. ``Every college was instructed to arrange furniture and the amount will be paid by the board. The board secretary took special care in clearing all the dues relating to 2017 examinations”, Krishnaiah maintained.
