Students told to follow Gandhian thought
Vijayawada: Chennupati Vidya, former Member of Parliament and president of Andhra Pradesh Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, here has extolled the qualities of Gandhian philosophy and appealed to the students of SRR and CVR Government College to adhere to the principles of Mahatma Gandhi.
Martyr Day was celebrated at the Government College here on Tuesday in connection with 70th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The programme was organised by Andhra Pradesh unit of Gandhi Smarak Nidhi.
The programme was started with Kavi Sammelanam with various poets reciting the poems, songs on the life of Mahatma Gandhi. It was followed by a dance drama on Quit India – Independent India under the supervision of Ramesh. Later, Chennupati Vidya addressing the college students recalled the trials and tribulations of freedom struggle and the inspiration of Mahatma Gandhi.
Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad stated that Mahatma Gandhi included service to Harijans, potable water supply, cleanliness of villages in his 18-point programme. He said that it was sad that the present generation was not even aware of the seven sins stated by Gandhi.
