Burglar held, stolen jewellery worth 15 lakh recovered
Kurnool: The Nandyal police has arrested a burglar and recovered 550 grams of ornaments worth Rs 15.50 lakh from his possession. Speaking to media at Ved Vyas Auditorium on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police Gopinath Jetty said the accused Naravath Lal Singh alias Naravath Singh alias Naravath, a native of Rajasthan, was habituated to robbing of locked houses in Nandyal and Kurnool.
The SP said Naravath was undergoing a sentence in a theft case filed by Nandyal two town police last year at VC Colony in Nandyal. He said the police took up investigation and arrested the offender near Nandyal railway station on January 17 and recovered 46 grams of ornaments based on a complaint lodged by the victim Shaik Noor Jahan.
During interrogation, the accused confessed of doing several house breakings and stealing ornaments. The central crime station police took the accused into police custody after seeking court permission.
He was taken to Rajasthan where he had sold stolen ornaments and recovered 550 grams of jewellery worth Rs 15.50 lakhs. DSPs of Nandyal and Kurnool, Gopala Krishna and Hussain Peera, Circle Inspectors, Srinivasa Rao and Devendra Kumar, Sub Inspectors Harinath Reddy and Krishnudu were present.
