Dandupalyam gang on the prowl

Visakhapatnam: Taking a serious note on increasing murder cases in the city, police started investigation to identify the killer gangs. With the brutal murder of yoga teacher PV Ramana by a killer gang, police on Wednesday identified a six-member killer gang which was involved in the murder. The gang also attempted to murder the prime accused in yoga teacher murder case KV Ramana.

According to police sources, the gang is claiming itself as Dandupalyam gang. Sources further stated that the four of the six gang members were already taken into custody and being interrogated. The arrested gang members were identified as 22-year-old Ajay Kumar, 21-year-old Kalyan, 20-year-old Anil and 19-year-old Pavan. The other two accused are still at large. They formed as a gang and committed several offences in the city.

KV Ramana, who is claimed to be bureau chief of a local daily, offered Rs 1.5 lakh to the Dandupalyam gang to kill yoga teacher PV Ramana. After the murder, differences cropped up between the gang and KV Ramana. The gang attacked KV Ramana who is presently undergoing treatment at King George Hospital.

One of the gang members Ajay Kumar, who is a boxer, had ruined his career. He won many medals at the state-level tournaments and was trained in Bengaluru for three years.
