Stop harassing small vendors: Chamber
Rajamahendravaram: Federation of Chamber and Industry Chairman Nandepu Srinivas has demanded that the commercial taxes department officials should stop harassing small and petty vendors.
Speaking to reporters at press club here on Wednesday, Srinivas warned the commercial taxes department that they will organise a state-wide agitation if the government fails to check raids on shops and harassment on petty and small vendors in the guise of Goods and Services Tax(GST).
Stating that many officials did not have full knowledge on GST, he added a state-level meeting will be conducted on March 11 in Rajamahendravaram to create awareness on GST.
Federation secretary Degala Ramesh said the traders were paying all taxes to government but the department was harassing the traders. He underlined the need to create awareness among people and trading community on GST, which is the need of hour.
