Striving to transform state into knowledge hub: Ganta

Kurnool: HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao has inaugurated Life Sciences block at the Rayalaseema University (RU) here on Wednesday. The School of Life Sciences was constructed at a cost of Rs 10 crore. MLCs KE Prabhakar, N Md Farooq, and Katti Narasimha Reddy, MLAs Mani Gandhi, Isaiah, and SV Mohan Reddy and RU Vice-Chancellor Y Narasimhulu have accompanied the HRD Minister.

After the inauguration, speaking to the media, Ghanta said that the TD government is striving to transform the state into a knowledge hub. He informed Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been giving more importance to education and he has allocated 58 per cent funds in the budget for education sector.

The Minister stated that a capital grant of Rs 179.55 crore has been sanctioned for the development of Universities in the state, in which includes Dr BR Ambedkar University, Nannaya University, Rayalaseema University and Urdu University. To impart quality education to the students, around 1,385 lecturer posts will be filled in 14 varsities across the state, he added.

Ganta stated that admissions are likely to start at Central University in Anantapur from this academic year. A university is going to start at Visakhapatnam wherein education from KG to PG besides medicine and engineering courses can be pursued at one premises, the Minister said, adding around 10,000 teacher posts have been filled through the DSC.

More posts are likely to fill in the second phase of DSC that would be conducted on February 21st after conducting the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). Sports policy would be introduced soon, and the government is thinking to give weightage to the sports persons, he mentioned. Former Minister Erasu Pratap Reddy, KDCC Bank president Mallikarjuna Reddy, Urdu University Vice-Chancellor Muzafar Ali, and others were present.
