Two suffer injuries in crackers blast

Eluru: A 55-year-old woman and her grandson suffered serious burn injuries in crackers blast at Veermachaneni Venkata Narayana Nagar in Komadavole panchayat, two km from eluru city, on Wednesday.

According to eyewitnesses and police, Meka Srinivasa Rao and his wife and two children, along with his father Rambabu and mother Padmavathi, are residing in a cement sheets roof portion for the past few years.

Srinivasa Rao recently went to Yadav Nagar in Tangellamudi near Eluru with his wife and children. Three days ago, he returned to VV Narayana Nagar with his children and wife. His mother Padmavathi (55)  lit the stove to heat water in the shed on Wednesday. Some crackers were stored in the shed and suddenly those crackers were exploded with the heat from the stove. 

In this incident, Harsha and his grandmother Padmavathi received serious injuries. The neighbours after listening to the crackers blast sound immediately reached the house. They immediately shifted the boy and his grandmother to ASRAM Hospital as their condition is serious.

Eluru DSP K Eswara Rao, Rural CI Venkateswara Rao, Rural SI Nagendra Prasad and police personnel reached the spot and enquired about the blast. Dog squad and clues teams reached the spot and after a thorough check, police confirmed that the incident occurred due to crackers blast.

The local people said that Srinivasa Rao was manufacturing crackers unauthorisedly in the house and that might led to the accident. The condition of the injured is said to be critical, police sources said.
