Now burden on taxpayers: CPM
The city unit of CPM took strong objection to the budget plans of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) which would be introduced on Friday. The leaders, Donepudi Kasinath and corporator Adilakshmi, expressed their concern over the budget plans of the corporation as it was ready to burden the citizens with Rs 120 crore additional taxes. They said the local body failed to provide infrastructure in the city, they lamented.

The corporation did not make any efforts to get funds from the government. All the assets were under mortgage and how the local body would clear loans, they wondered. Even the long pending demand of the GO 010 was yet to be implemented they said. They wondered as to how the expenditure on organising the Women’s Parliament in the city was included in the corporation account.
