Central Council of Physiotherapy draft bill ready
Ongole: Ongole MP Y V Subba Reddy said here on Thursday that the Union Minister for Health Jagat Prakash Nadda in a letter to him has announced that the draft bill for the establishment of a Central Council of Physiotherapy was ready.
The MP, in a press release, said that he explained to the Union Minister earlier that there were 296 under graduate colleges, 116 post-graduate colleges and 11 universities offering physiotherapy course in the country.
He said that he brought to the notice of the Minister, the plight of about 65,000 qualified physiotherapists and 35,000 students and explained to him the need of setting up pf a Physiotherapy Council of India to address the issues related to them.
In response to the communication to the MP, the Health Minister has readily agreed to set up a Central Council of Physiotherapy on the lines of the Medical Council of India and a draft bill was also prepared for it.
He assured the MP that as early as possible, the Bill would be introduced in Parliament and the Council would be established to take care of the issues of the physiotherapists in the country.
