Justice Chalameswar stresses need to improve quality of education

Guntur: Supreme Court Judge Justice Jasti Chalameswar stressed on the need to improve quality of education and felt that instead of opening more educational institutions, there is a need to improve educational standards.  

Addressing Nagarjuna Education Society (NES) Golden Jubilee Celebrations held at JKC College premises in Guntur city on Friday, he said, “If we go to universities in USA, Indians are studying in American Universities.” He wondered why foreigners are not coming to India for higher education and asked managements of educational institutions to think about it.

He said, in Kernel University in USA, there are 57 Nobel laureates in the university out of which 36 are regular and remaining are guest faculty.  He questioned why our education institutions are not maintaining that standards. 

He said, “We have to start effort to increase quality of education at least now.” Justice Chalameswar pointed out that 30 % to 40% of seats in  engineering colleges in AP and Karnataka are remaining vacant and felt that though  students are studying in some engineering colleges they are not getting jobs.

Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao appreciated the NES   for providing quality education to the rural poor and congratulated the management for conducting golden jubilee celebrations.

Nagarjuna Education Society president Dr K.Basavapunniah presided over  the meeting.  MLA Modugula Venugopala  Reddy, MLA Md Mustafa,  former MP Dr Yalamanchili Sivaji, Siddartha Academy chairman Nalluri Venkateswarulu and NES secretary Dr Rayapati Srinivas were among those who participated in the meeting.
