Vehicle-lifting gang busted; 22 bikes, auto recovered

Adoni (Kurnool): The cops arrested a 11-member inter-state gang and recovered 22 two-wheelers and a three-wheeler from them here on Thursday. All the arrested persons have been produced before the media in the presence of Adoni DSP YBPTA Prasad. 

Addressing the media, the DSP said that one Veeranjaneyulu of Adoni, after forming a gang along with ten more members, used to lift the two-wheelers and three-wheelers. Prasad said that they had received several complaints from the residents regarding the vehicle thefts.

A team led by Circle Inspectors Subramanyam, Chandrasekhar and Daiva Prasad were formed to nab the accused. The DSP said that the gang was spotted loitering suspiciously near Lakshmamma Avvanagar in Adoni. 

All of them were taken into custody. During interrogation, they had confessed to committing the crimes. The accused lifted the vehicles not only in Adoni but also in Karanataka state. Besides lifting vehicles, they also stole cows, goats and rams, he stated.

He said around 22 two-wheelers and an autorickshaw were recovered from their possession. The DSP said that a case was registered against them and would be produced in the court for further action. 

The DSP lauded the efforts of the Circle Inspectors and his staff for their team work in apprehending the vehicle lifting gang.
