20 hurt as bus overturns at Vatluru
Eluru: Twenty passengers sustained injuries when the APSRTC bus in which they were travelling overturned on National Highway near Vatluru Residential School near Eluru city on Thursday night. Out of total injured, five passengers condition is stated to be serious.
According to police, a hi-tech bus bound to Hyderabad from Amalapuram depot reached Vatluru residential school area on National Highway on Thursday night. While heading to Hyderabad, the bus was overturned while negotiating a curve and fell to one side.
At the time of mishap, 27 passengers boarded the bus. As it is midnight, all the passengers in the bus were asleep. When the bus suddenly turned turtle, the passengers fell on one another.
The highway patrolling party and road safety police hearing the cries of the passengers reached the spot immediately brought out the passengers from the bus by breaking the window panes. Out of total 27 passengers, 20 passengers received injuries.
They were immediately shifted to Eluru government hospital. Of them, five passengers Badili Satyavati, Pothula Saraswathi and Pothula Prameela Devi of Hyderabad and Satti Satyavati of Kothapeta near Amalapuram and P Gowthami received serious injuries and undergoing treatment.
Driver PS Murthy from Yanam was also seriously injured. The doctors discharged the remaining passengers after administering first aid. The RTC arranged another bus to shift the passengers to Hyderabad.
