Central Health Scheme will benefit 10-cr families: V-P

Guntur: Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu has said that the Central government introduced Health scheme to cover up to Rs 5 lakh in the Union Budget and given priority to health.Venkaiah Naidu, along with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, inaugurated Omega Cancer Hospital in Guntur city on Saturday.

Addressing a meeting on the occasion, the Vice-President has said that the scheme will benefit 10-crore families in the country every year. The state government has also been implementing the NTR Vaidya Seva scheme to render medical services to the poor. If both the schemes are clubbed, people can get better medical services, he suggested. Venkaiah Naidu urged the management of Omega Cancer Hospital to create awareness among the people on cancer and conduct cancer screening tests. He said, 35 per cent of  cancer cases may be cured. 

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said that he will develop Amaravati as medical hub and will set up 14-medical colleges and some more hospitals. If cancer is diagnosed at an early stage,it can be cured, he said. He reminded that his mother-in-law Nandamuri Basavatarakam had suffered from cancer and died. To  render better medical  services to cancer  patients,they have set up cancer  hospital. Medical services are available for cancer patients in Guntur also.

Omega Hospital managing director Dr Mohan said they would render better medical services to cancer patients and thanked Chief Minister for issuing necessary permissions within a short period. Minister for Medical Health Dr Kamineni Srinivas, Minister for Civil Supplies, Prathipati Pulla Rao, Minister for Social Welfare Nakka Anand Babu and MP Galla Jayadev were among those participated in the meeting.
