RSVP expo displays ancient heritage
Tirupati: The heritage exhibition being held at Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP) as part of the ongoing 12th All India Sanskrit Students Talent Festival displays that scientific thought was as old as Vedas in India. The very idea to have such an exhibition was the brain child of RSVP Vice-Chancellor Prof V Muralidhara Sharma which has resulted in a fruitful way and concludes on Saturday.

Explaining the motive behind the Sanskrit Science exhibition, its convenor and Senior Professor Prof Rani Sadasiva Murthy told The Hans India, “The language is rich in most advanced science, contained in their books called Vedas, Upanishads, Shruti, Smrithi, Puranas, Ramayana, Mahabharatha etc. Learning of Sanskrit improves brain functioning and students start getting better marks in other subjects like Mathematics, Science as it enables memory power.
Research has shown that the phonetics of Sanskrit has roots in various entergy points of the body and reading, speaking or reciting Sanskrit stimulates these points and raises the energy levels”. He added that at least 20 scientific branches could be traced in early Sanskrit literature and ancient society was so developed scientifically.
The exhibition includes the prototypes, panels, posters etc from Vedic, Ayurvedic, musical, Agama concepts which would give an opportunity for the students to learn more about the ancient Indian wisdom and to take the message to the other parts of the world. One poster revealed that “Ancient India had recommended a practice of fasting one day in a fortnight. Many of us religiously follow this practice to this day as a penance for spiritual progress without any idea of the biological and therapeutic benefits of this practice.
In fact, through this process our body repairs its damaged and degenerated cells or uses up the proteins of the damaged cells for its survival. The exhibition was divided into various sections in Sanskrit-Science wing like astronomy, physics, gemmology, biology, botany etc. Besides these, the significant feature was that various other contributors to the field have opened their enclosures in it. Sri Venkateswara Vedic University contributed with Agama and Yagna exhibition.
In which construction of temple with respect to Agamas like Vaikhanasa, Saiva and Pancharatra was so attractive. They also exhibited their publications. Similarly, SV Ayurvedic College drawing the visitors with their stall which explains the role of Ayurveda in a healthy and peaceful life.
There was a poster exhibition of various aspects of Charaka Samhita, Susruta Samhita and other important texts of Ayurveda.
Likewise, SV University Oriental Research Institute displayed the rare palm leaf manuscripts whereas SV College of Music and Dance displayed various aspects of music including several musical instruments, posters, portraits of great musicians among other things. Odisha chair of RSVP came out with their display of the philosophy of Jagannath, Chaitanya and Jayadeva. In all, visiting the exhibition makes them feel proud of the great ancient language.
