Encourage budding entrepreneurs
Visakhapatnam: Indian students are very smart and they just need guidance to be able to turn their ideas into big businesses, said Northeastern University (Bostan) International Programs Director Prof Gregory Collier.
Addressing the students during a workshop on “Business model innovation current drivers” jointly organised by GITAM Institute of Management and Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) here on Saturday at GITAM Campus, Collier highlighted that entrepreneurship is a team work and no one can claim credit for it.
GITAM Deemed University Pro Vice-Chancellor K Sivarama Krishna said that entrepreneurship gives young people an opportunity to work on their own skills and interests and in the process, they can create employment.
He said youth should be encouraged in entrepreneurship, which provides an opportunity to hone their skills and leadership qualities besides contributes for economic development.
Northeastern University (Bostan) advisor Nangegadda said that he was impressed with energy and dynamic leadership qualities of youth to become entrepreneurs.
He observed that the traditional mindset of a typical Indian boy or girl should be changed as per changing needs and trends and added that entrepreneurship should be encouraged among budding entrepreneurs.
Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) Executive head Akash Sinha informed that International Institute of Entrepreneurship Development (i2E) is an initiative of APSSDC. He briefed that i2E has quickly become synonymous with entrepreneurship in the state of AP.
The i2E adopts a grassroots hands-on approach to coach and mentor budding entrepreneurs to develop their business ideas into commercially viable ventures by using proprietary NU-IDEA methodology of Northeastern University.
As part of the programme, the organisers conducted technical sessions focused mainly on corporate innovations, business model innovations and corporate entrepreneurial sales strategy. Nearly 500 students from various colleges in the city attended the workshop.
