Hi-tech laboratory inaugurated for TB patients
Visakhapatnam: Collector Praveen Kumar on Saturday inaugurated a Rs 25 lakh well-equipped hi-tech laboratory for tuberculosis patients at King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam.
On the occasion, the collector said the government is aimed to eradicate tuberculosis by 2025 under the mission and providing latest technology based medical laboratory centresto identify TB cases in initial stages.
The collector directed the health officials to arrange one more CBNAAT Centre in Paderuregionalhospital for tribal people of Agency area.
After MOU signed between World Health Organisation, Centre for TB department and Indian Government, this facility was available at KGH in the district and in the coming days this facilitywill be set up at Anakapalli andNarsipatnam, he added.
The equipment helps to identify 400 TB tests. District medical and health officer Dr Ramesh said the centre will provide all information to TB patients.
KGH superintendent Dr G Arjuna said patients from corporate hospitals alsocan have medical tests free of cost in the centre. Andhra Medical College Principal SV Sudhakar and District TB control officer Dr N Vasundhara were present.
