Not allowed for exam, Inter girl ends life

Adoni (Kurnool): An Intermediate student committed suicide for not allowing her to appear for the practical exam on Friday at Adoni. According to sources, Vijaya Lakshmi (19), a resident of Kallu Bavi Street in Adoni was supposed to attend second year practical exams. On Friday, she reached to the exam centre a bit late and the examination organisers at the centre refused her to appear for the practical exam though she made several requests. 

With the denial, she was greatly dejected. She reached her home and committed suicide after locking her room from inside. Her parents, suspecting her behaviour, knocked the door but did not get response. They broke open the door and found Vijaya Lakshmi hanging from  the ceiling. The parents, as they came to know that she was not allowed to appear for practical exams, staged protest near the exam centre. 

The students’ organisation leaders also supported the parents protest and demanded compensation of Rs.10 lakhs to the bereaved family members. They also demanded the cancellation of jumbling system. Adoni Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), YBTA Prasad rushed to the spot and convinced the family members. With the assurance of the DSP, the student’s organisation leaders and the family members gave up their protest and lodged a complaint with Two Town police station.
