Irrigation AE lands in Anti-Corruption Bureau net

Visakhapatnam: The Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths trapped an assistant engineer of irrigation department here on Monday. According to ACB, A Prakash, assistant engineer of irrigation department and N Prasad private system operator of V Madugula in the district, were caught by the ACB officials while they demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a complainant A Santhosh for doing an official favour in the office. 

When the contractor asked the AE for processing the file towards his payment of desilting work done by him at Sreeramasagar tank and Rangaraosagar tank, the AE demanded Rs 50,000. Vexed with the AE’s demand, the contractor approached the ACB. With directions of the ACB officials, the complainant went to the office and AE directed the system operator to receive the bribe. Both are being arrested and produced before the ACB court. Investigation is on, the ACB officials said.
