80 cr for improvement of burial grounds

Nellore: Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana assured that they would not confine to only development activities but also improve conditions at burial grounds in the State. He said 1,004 burial grounds in 110 municipal corporation across the state will be improved at a cost of Rs 80 crore.

The Minister inspected the burial grounds at Kapadipalem, Ranganayakula Peta, Janardhan Reddy Colony and Zakir Hussain Nagar here on Monday. Speaking to the mediapersons, Narayana said that the State government had sanctioned Rs 40 crore for executing works at burial grounds.  He said Rs 40 core has to be borne by municipalities and mobilised from other sources.

Narayana said that they would construct compound walls, arrange streetlights, maintain sanitation and other basic amenities at these burial grounds. The Minister directed Municipal Commissioner Alim Basha to maintain sanitation at all burial grounds in the city limits. He informed that they would provide basic amenities for the people at the burial grounds within next 6 months.
