Civic body denies land conversion

Nellore: Municipal Council which met here on Tuesday has rejected the proposal of converting Nippo lands for commercial needs in the city.

Nellore Urban Development Authority (NUDA) would look into the issue of permitting land of Nippo for commercial use and the civic body would also go for legal opinion on the issue, said the Mayor Abdul Aziz.

As part of SC, ST sub plan, Rs 113 crore would be utilised for completion of all development projects. Members of the council have appealed to the Mayor Abdul Aziz to resolve the issues which are pending in various divisions.

The Council had passed 22 resolutions as against 24 and refused the proposal to allocate land to Vasantha Lakshmi Charitable Trust to set up a skill development centre.

YSRCP floor leader Roop Kumar Yadav alleged that government had allocated lands to the Vasantha Lakshmi Charitable Trust in Ozili and Sullurupet which were unused, and irregularities took place in the alienation of lands.
