The BJP leaders held Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu responsible for not allocating funds to Visakhapatnam as the government failed to conduct Municipal elections in a scheduled time. The five year term of the city  Council was ended six years ago.

As the government failed to conduct the elections,  Finance Commission stopped funding to the Municipality.
