Gas tanker overturns; no casualties

Srikakulam: A tanker containing natural gas of Indian Oil Company overturned on national highway (NH) in Kaviti mandal on Tuesday.   While proceeding to Balasore in Odisha from Visakhapatnam, due to sleeplessness the driver lost control over the vehicle and it overturned. However, the driver escaped unhurt by jumping out from the cabin. After the mishap, gas leaked from the tanker.

On information Kaviti SI Pola Parinaidu rushed to spot along with his staff and informed the rescue team of Indian Oil Company at Visakhapatnam who reached the spot on Tuesday evening and prevented leakage after three hours effort. Fire staff from Palasa and Itchapuram rushed to spot and sprayed water on the tanker continuously till evening.
