MLA inspects govt hospital in Kurnool
Kurnool: The Government General Hospital here which caters to the health care needs of the people from Rayalaseema and also places from Telangana continues in a state of neglect although it has sufficient doctors and equipment. It has been facing problems in management and supervision and as such the hospital is unable to serve people in a better way.
Lack of cleanliness on the premises is another major problem besides inadequate staff. In view of the public discontent over the prevailing conditions, legislator S V Mohan Reddy made a surprise visit to the hospital on Tuesday to assess the situation and to know its needs.
Hospital Superintendent Dr Chandrasekhar submitted details of plans for the improvement of the facilities at the hospital. He said that a new building will be constructed after getting the old structure demolished.
Internal roads and better sanitation facilities would be provided in the new complex. He submitted proposals to appoint 600 employees. Dr Chandrasekhar also submitted plans to expand the casualty and emergency wings, besides adding 200 beds, and improvements to the Burns wing.
