Mahasivaratri Brahmotsavams begin at Srisailam temple

Srisailam Project: The 11-day-long MahasivaratriBrahmotsavams began in the shrine here on Tuesday on a grand scale, with priests conducting pooja in the morning in the Yagashala. Prior to the pooja, the temple priests, Veda pandits and officials made a traditional entry into the Yagashala.

The priests and pandits explained to the gathering the ‘kalyanasankalpam’, wishing that people be happy, healthy and prosperous without any fire and road accidents.

They later performed the ‘mahaganapati pooja’ for orderly conduct for the Brahmotsavam, followed by ‘kankana pooja’, ‘rutvigaranam’, ‘akhandastapana’, ‘vastu pooja’,’mandaparadhana’, ‘panchavararchana’, ‘kalasastapam’. Later, ‘BikshaVastralu’ were presented to the temple main priest, stanacharyulu and Vedapandits.

In the evening,‘ankurarpana’, ‘agnipratishtapana’and ‘rudrarohama’programmes were conducted.  During ‘dwajarohana’, a ’dwajapatram’ seeking the divine blessings of gods Brahma, Vishnu and Siva for the successful conduct of Brahmotsavam was released.

The temple officials instructed the staff concerned to ensure that the Siva devotees who walk to the shrine to mark ‘Sivaratri’ don’t face any hardship. They wanted more tents put up in gardens, lighting in the Mada Street, and extension of all facilities for the ‘annadanam’, besides adequate water supply.

The officials inspected various roads in the town. Executive Officer Bharat Gupta directed the engineering, water supply and electricity staff to make adequate arrangements in guest houses for the benefit of devotees, and to put up sign boards.
