Ryots oppose land takeover at Jakkampudi
Vijayawada: The leaders and members of Bhoo Hakkula Parirakshana Committee staged a protest at MRO office in the city here on Tuesday for opposing the plans of government to acquire lands from farmers and poorer sections for the construction of economic city at Jakkampudi on the outskirts of the city.
They said that the government planned to acquire 270 acres in the limits of Shabada and Jakkampudi. They said the people of poorer sections have been cultivating the lands from the past several decades. But the government had made plans to grab the lands from their procession, they lamented. Committee state convener R Venkateshwaralu, state leader Butti Rayappa, district leader Kota Kalyan and several leaders were present.
