Swachh Survekshan Survey launched in temple city

Tirupati: A four-member central team from New Delhi has started conducting a secret survey programme, ‘Swachh Survekshan Survey,’ a study on cleanliness, here from Wednesday over the maintenance of sanitary conditions by Municipal Corporation of Tirupati.

As part of the programme, the team went out and toured different parts of the temple city for gathering details from the residents and other stakeholders. On the first day, the central team has inspected conditions on the outskirts of Tirupati colonies like MR Palli, Jeevakona, Postal Colony, Yadava Colony and interacted with residents of those areas.

They collected the feedback from them over the maintenance of sanitary conditions by the staff of the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT). Later, they interacted with the Commissioner of Municipal Corporation and other higher officials and went through the power-point presentation with regard to the clearing of garbage at the Ramapuram dumping yard and vegetable markets.

The team paid a visit to the Thukivakam vegetable manure manufacturing unit to see how the vegetable waste was being converting into bio-manure. Afterwards, they visited parks to know how they were being maintained.

Later, they inspected the public toilets near APSRTC central bus station, Alipiri, railway station and other public places and enquired from the people about the water supply and maintenance of public toilets. According to MCT officials, the central team’s visit will conclude on Thursday.
