Fishermen, tribals bury the hatchet

Srikakulam: Fishermen and tribals, who locked horns over reservation, buried the hatchet here on Friday. It may be recalled that fishermen agitation camp was attacked by tribals on February 5. With the intervention of Human Rights Forum state vice-president KV Jagannadha Rao, elders of both the communities expressed their willingness to compromise and held discussions one day ago.
On Friday, again elders belonging to both the communities and HRF vice-president held discussions before Collector K Dhanunjaya Reddy and Superintendent of Police (Dr CM Trivikrama Varma and agreed to compromise. Later, the collector and the SP announced that the dispute was settled through mediation.
